RALEIGH, N.C. – The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded Piedmont-Triad International Airport $5.8 million for improvement projects.

The money comes from State Aid to Airports funds. PTI's funding includes a $1.3 million reimbursement for the HondaJet terminal area, $4 million for economic development site work and $500,000 for airfield improvements.

According to NCDOT, PTI employs more than 7,700 people and has about a $1.9 billion impact on North Carolina in a year.
