LEXINGTON, N.C. -- A man wanted for failure to appear was arrested for bringing a gun inside a courthouse. The handgun was found during security checks.
Davidson County officials charged Michael Tyrone Mayo Jr. Deputies said Mayo came to the security checkpoint, placed his coat on the table and walked through the security scanner that was near Court Room A.
After putting Mayo's coat through the X-ray machine, deputies found a .380 caliber handgun.
He was arrested and placed in the Davidson County Jail under a $6,500 secured bond. He's charged with Possession of a Weapon on State Property, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Warrant in Davidson County for Failure to Appear.
Investigators said after checking Mayo's name, they found an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear.
