HIGH POINT, N.C. -- High Point firefighters are working to control a big blaze at an old furniture warehouse.
A fire department spokesperson said one firefighter has minor injuries. The firefighter twisted his ankle when his foot got caught in a ladder.
Fire Chief Thomas Reid said they responded to the fire just before 11 p.m. Monday. The warehouse is located near the intersections of West Green Drive & Taylor Avenue in High Point.
Reid said the cold and icy weather is slowing down firefighters.
"It hinders our operation quite a bite. We have to be more careful walking and driving around the fire. So, we will be out here all night and most of the day tomorrow. If not into tomorrow night just working hot spots and see if we can do any type of investigation. Right now, it is just trying to keep it contained to that building," Reid said.
Several roads are blocked as crews battle the fire.
