BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Members of the North Carolina Wing of Civil Air Patrol were honored Tuesday night for saving a man's life.
Officials said 21 members received the CAP Certificate of Recognition for Lifesaving at their headquarters in Burlington. The members who were recognized helped in the search for David Lee Bennett who was missing in Wake County in March.
CAP members found Bennett who officials said was in desperate need of medical assistance and was suffering from a fall in a heavily wooded area. First responders stabilized him until higher medical care arrived.
