WFMY NEWS 2 IS WORKING TO FEED PEOPLE IN THE TRIAD #WFMYFOODFIGHT
WFMY News 2 is holding a 2-day food drive to help our local food banks. And were making it a food fight. Guys versus girls.
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The gloves came off early and the #wfmyfoodfight has begun. WFMY News 2's Frank Mickens and Grant Gilmore team #FrankGrant were first in the ring. They started their day Wednesday at the Harris Teeter in the Shops at Friendly at Noon. The team will be at that location until 6:30 p.m.
By 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday team #frankgrant had FIVE boxes of food and the donations kept coming, including CASH!
They are competing against team: #JulieTanya (Julie Luck and Tanya Rivera) to see who can collect the most food for the Second Harvest Food Bank.
The teams could use any means necessary to win, including photo bombs like the one that Frank Mickens did during Tanya Rivera's 2 Wants to Know newscast on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
You don't want to miss what Julie and Tanya are cooking up for their food drive Thursday. It starts at Noon and will go until 6:30 p.m. at the Walmart Supercenter on Wendover Avenue in Greensboro.
The real winners are those who rely on help from the food bank to provide a decent meal for their family. The Second Harvest Food Bank provides for 18 Triad counties. This food fundraiser comes in the wake of one of the worst DSS food stamp backlogs in North Carolina history and leads up to the Outnumber Hunger concert that will air on WFMY News 2 on Friday at 8 p.m.
Join the conversation and show your support for these two teams with #JulieTanya and #FrankGrant. Tweet us your food donation photos with #wfmyfoodfight and #food2families to @WFMY, or email them to email@example.com.
