THOMASVILLE, N.C -- The Thomasville Police Department honored fallen officers Thursday as part of National Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Officers held their memorial service at Thomasville Church of God where eight Thomasville police officers and Davidson County law enforcement officials were remembered.

Earlier this week, Greensboro Police officers and High Point officials held services to honor their fallen members.

In 1962, President Kennedy declared May 15th National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15th falls, as National Police Week. This year's National Police Week runs from Sunday, May 11th through Saturday, May 17th.
