RANDLEMAN, N.C. -- For the first time in 70 years, World War II Veteran John Ruth reunited with his daughter, Marian Toth. It's a story of love lost, then found, decades later.

The 88-year-old veteran said he met his first love overseas in Germany during the war. Ruth told his family he believed he fathered a child with the woman, but was never able to track her down to find out. That's when Ruth's grandson went on a search.

For years, Ruth's grandson looked for Marian, with no luck of tracking her down. He finally found her a year ago.

On Friday, Marian Toth and her family flew in to Charlotte Douglas Airport. Ruth could not be there when they arrived due to his poor health. Marian and her family then drove to Randolph County for the reunion. Toth and Ruth had Skyped within the last year, but this was the first time the two met each other face-to-face. Talk about a special Father's Day!

On Saturday, both families were together for a family reunion in Randleman. Marian Toth and her family will be here in North Carolina for 10 days.
