Crews are working to build an amphitheatre among other things to open to the public in the spring of 2015.
KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – Construction for a new amphitheater is underway at the Carolina Field of Honor.
Mike Anderson, Director of Forsyth County Parks and Recreation told WFMY News 2 crews are also working on another shelter complex with a disc golf area and more parking.
The amphitheater will hold about 3,000 people and the shelters will house about 300. Anderson says the amphitheater will be used for many different activities such as concerts, special events, and outdoor dramas.
Construction has already been underway for a month and Anderson hopes to have these special amenities open to the public by spring of 2015.
Together, this project costs about two million dollars. Anderson says bond funds from Guilford and Forsyth counties are being used to fund the project, along with a $500,000 state grant the Forsyth Parks and Recreation received.
