ELON, N.C.-- A woman was critically injured after crashing her car into a utility pole in Elon on Sunday afternoon.

Elon Police and fire responded to the accident on South Williamson Avenue around 3:00 p.m. Officers said Devon Noelle Bartholf from West Grove, PA, was traveling north on Williamson Avenue at a high rate of speed when she lost control of her vehicle. Bartholf left the road and hit a utility pole.

Bartholf was transported to Alamance Regional Medical Center, but was later transferred to UNC Hospital via Life-flight. Police said at last check, Bartholf was listed in critical condition.

Investigators say speed and alcohol might be contributing factors to the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
