GREENSBORO, N.C.-- When the Wyndham Championship tees off in August it will mark 75 years of this PGA tournament. Sponsors and locations have changed in Greensboro, but the tournament has remained a staple in the Gate City.
Monday, Wyndham hosted media day at Sedgefield Country Club, the site of the championship. Defending Wyndham champion Patrick Reed, who is currently playing in Ohio at the World Golf Course Bridgestone Invitational, will join those in attendance by phone.
The list of players who have committed so far includes three past champions.
Wyndham organizers are still completing the player's list and work in and around the golf course continues as excitement builds for this historic tournament. The Wyndham Championship is the sixth-oldest event on the PGA TOUR excluding the majors, and the event founded in 1938 enjoys a history filled with World Golf Hall of Fame winners.
The 2014 Wyndham Championship is scheduled for August 11-17.
