GLACIER PARK, MT -- A North Carolina man had a close call with a grizzly bear while hiking along a trail in Montana this week.
According to WBTV, Philip Granrud who's from Durham said the bear got onto the trail after climbing down a tree. He also said several groups of hikers got out of the bear's way.
He captured another hiker who had little time to get out of harm's way. You can see the man captured in the photo on a side of a steep cliff at Glacier National Park.
Granrud told WBTV, the man in the picture didn't have much choice, "He could have turned around and gone back, but the trail is only three to five feet wide and sheer cliffs on all sides. The bear was moving at a brisk pace."
He also said something else about the bear's pace, "He wasn't aggressive towards people at all but you could tell he sure enjoyed getting the right of way and moved quickly on the trail."
