WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- A Winston-Salem woman who was charged in April with killing a man by hitting him with her vehicle and dragging him for more than two miles has been indicted.

Police charged Viola Demitria Spencer several days after with Destroy/Alter/Conceal/Tamper with evidence. Police later added charges of felony Hit And Run, and Misdemeanor Death By Motor Vehicle.

According to the police report, the hit-and-run happened in the 2500 block of North Cleveland Avenue. Police said they followed blood trails for about 2 ½ miles down the road.

First responders found 54-year-old John Otis Hill's body at Kapp Street and Idlewild Industrial Drive. He later died from injuries at an area hospital.

Police said Hill was alive the entire time he was being dragged.
