BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Police are looking for a man who reportedly assaulted a woman before stealing her car and leading police on a chase Sunday night.
Burlington police officers dispatched to N. Beaumont Ave and Beaumont Ct. in reference to a reported assault and theft of a car. When police arrived to the scene, the victim told them her ex-boyfriend, Lover Thomas, who was a passenger in the car with her, punched her in the face while she was driving to the store. She also said Thomas pulled her out of the car when she pulled onto the side of the road. She said Thomas pulled her out of the car and then drove away with it.
Police called EMS to take the woman to a local hospital, where she was treated for a broken nose and a contusion to her right eye.
Thomas was spotted driving the car on Cloverdale St. in Burlington. According to police, he refused to stop when they attempted to pull him over. Police started to chase the car but stopped because of safety concerns.
Police are still looking for Thomas and have obtained warrants on him for:
- Felony Flee to Elude
- No Operator's License
- Assault Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury
- Larceny of a Motor Vehicle
Police said the car is a 2005 black Toyota Camry with a 30-day tag.
