GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Greensboro Police arrested three teenagers in Greensboro Thursday.

The teenagers are suspected of committing multiple robberies. Police say they stole a vehicle at gunpoint near South Eugene Street. A near by officer saw the stolen vehicle about five minutes later on Alamance Church Road and started a brief vehicle pursuit. The pursuit ended when the suspects then left the vehicle and ran by foot near Bingham Street and Peachtree Street.

The three teenagers are charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, first degree kidnapping, attempted armed robbery, armed robbery and two counts each of conspiracy to commit armed robbery for the robberies.

The suspects include 18-year-old Rakeem Barrett, 17-year-old Teshon Lamont Deonte Broadnax and 18-year-old Dexter Rashad Vanstory.

Greensboro Police say the teenagers first came to their attention after a robbery at Margate Apartments on East Cone Boulevard on August 18. The victim told police the three men stole his vehicle at gun point.

Two days later, a similar robbery was committed by three people on Summit Avenue.

Since the two similar incidents happened over such a short period of time, it alerted the department's crime analysts and caused them to take a more detailed look.

Three more robberies on August 19 elevated the crime pattern to a crime series and gave analysts more information to help officers.

"Thorough analysis of detailed crime data, additional investigation by detectives, and effectively positioning patrol officers contributed to the arrests of these three young men," said Capt. Mike Richey, Commander of the Criminal Investigations Division. "This is a good example of how specific roles under NOP help reduce crime."

More evidence caused police to link Vanstory to the August 18 robbery on Summit Avenue and two robberies on Hewitt Street on August 19. He faces additional charges for these incidents. He is at the Greensboro Jail Central on a $1 Million secure bond.
