PIEDMONT TRIAD, N.C. – A little boy who is battling a hypoplastic right heart got his wish granted over the weekend: to become an honorary member of the Coast Guard.

Six-year-old Isaac, from Archdale, says his fascination on wanting to become a rescue pilot started while he was in the hospital. He says his favorite time of the day was watching the hospital helicopter land on the helipad and seeing doctors help save the patient.

Isaac got a surprise send-off party at Zaxby's in High Point. There he was told that he and his family were going to spend the weekend with the Coast Guard.

Make-A-Wish officials told WFMY News 2 Isaac had an action packed weekend which included official safety briefings, riding in different helicopters and planes, meals with the staff, and his own customized flight suit.

Officials say although Isaac may be young, his compassion for others is deeply embedded in his personality.
