ASHEBORO, N.C.-- A cement truck driver was flown to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill after his truck overturned Tuesday afternoon in Asheboro. Emergency crews had to extricate the driver from the vehicle.
The accident happened around 12:50 p.m. on Oakmont Drive near Neely Drive. Officers said the truck went down an embankment and overturned on the driver side after he ran off the roadway.
The driver was trapped inside until crews were able to get him out. First responders in Randolph County tell WFMY News 2 it took almost an hour to free the driver from the truck.
The driver's condition is not immediately know.
Asheboro Police's traffic unit is in charge the investigation into crash and haven't released his name.
