GCS is looking for volunteer readers who can give just 30 minutes to read to a classroom of elementary children.
Guilford County, N.C. -- All it takes is 30 minutes to have a big and positive impact on local students. That's why schools in the Guilford County district are calling on volunteers to serve as community readers in April and May.
Mary Herbenick with the Guilford County Council of PTAs and Jennifer Reavis who works with the Guilford Education Alliance talked about the community reader days, Tuesday on the Good Morning Show.
"It's very simple to do and you can choose the time slot and locations that best fits your schedule," explained Reavis.
The benefits for both student and volunteer are incredible explained Herbenick. "The more that kids read and are read to, the better off they do in school!"
