Greensboro, N.C. -- Grab your bikes! It's National Bike Month and the City of Greensboro has more than 20 events planned to celebrate.

Adam Fischer, the city's Transportation Director and Daniel Amstutz, the Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator joined WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain on the Good Morning Show to talk about bike safety and upcoming bicycle events.

Safety for cyclists and drivers is always top of mind. Fischer explained important reminders for everyone on the road.

"We have more than 12 miles of designated bike lanes in the city which helps bikers feel safe," he added.

The City of Greensboro is starting Bike Week on Monday, May 12, 2014 with an event called Ride With The City.

Riders will meet near the Greene Street and February One Place Intersection near the Governmental Plaza in Greensboro.

Participants should arrive by 7:30 a.m. so you can leave as a group at 7:40 a.m. The ride is a short 1.3 mile loop through the eastern section of downtown Greensboro.

Also during Bike Week, the city will host two different commuter convoys.

The convoys will take place on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 and Thursday, May 15, 2014. The rides will be from UNCG to downtown and also from the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park to downtown.
