Young poets and performers are holding a fundraiser July 9th to help get them to a national competition.
Greensboro, N.C. -- The Gate City Youth Slam Team is sending six talented team members to the 17th Annual Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival in Philadelphia, P.A. in July.
This is the fourth year a team from Greensboro has competed in the festival.
Just weeks ahead of their trip, members of the Gate City Youth Slam Team talked about the competition then treated Good Morning Show viewers to a live performance.
The team, which is made up of Greensboro-area students is under the leadership of Josephus III, a well-known poet and educator.
He points to the incredible experience and outlet poetry gives to the youth.

The team needs your support as they get ready to travel to Philadelphia. To prepare for the competition and raise money for their trip, the team has scheduled multiple performances around the City of Greensboro. Donations will go directly towards travel and lodging expenses.
