JSNN hosts a free Science and Technology Festival for students. Community is encouraged to donate school supplies to support local teachers.
Greensboro, N.C. -- We know most teachers in the Triad are on summer break, but there's already an effort to help educators cover the cost of the school supplies they need before they head back to class.
Katina Amadi with the local group, An Attitude of Gratitude and Dr. Steve Coleman who is with the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering talked about the July 11, 2014 fundraising event on the Good Morning Show.
The goal, Amadi explained, is to collect enough materials to benefit more than 600 teachers.
"We all know that teachers have to dig in their pockets to make sure their students have supplies," said Amadi. "We're trying to ease that expense for them," she added.
On Friday, July 11, 2014 the community is encouraged to bring donations to help support local teachers. The organization will be collecting donations at the JSNN Technology Festival.
"It is the best science and technology festival in the Triad," explained Dr. Coleman. "Students will explore science and have fun with some of the neat technologies. We'll focus on Nanoscience, Robotics and Aeronautics."
Explore science at the technology festival, but don't forget to bring a donation to support local teachers.
A short wish list of items includes folders, notebooks, pencils, pens, highlighters, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, tissue packs and boxes, hand-sanitizer, colored pencils, notebook filler (wide), erasers, snacks, composition books, card stock, plastic bins, Velcro tape, Magnet Tape, Craft Popsicle sticks, copy paper, color paper, Kleenex, markers, treasure box items, thumb tacks and chair glides.
