YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- A swift water rescue team rescued a man who was trapped in his vehicle in the Yakima River.

A good Samaritan driving on a nearby bridge saw the man Sunday evening and called 911.

The vehicle was about 100 feet from the shore and was almost completely submerged. The man inside the vehicle crawled out of the driver's side window and waited for help.

It took about an hour to rescue the man. EMS took him to an area hospital to be treated for hypothermia.

Officials said another person was in the car, but they swam away and left.
