WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Some of the world's best cyclists will return to the Twin City this weekend for the second Winston-Salem Cycling Classic.

The Classic is a professional biking event that is one of 16 National Criterium Calendar and one of 11 USA Crit series professional road bike races in the country.

Last year's event attracted 10,000 spectators to the Triad, and organizers hope that number increases this year.

The second Classic kicks off Friday at 8 a.m. near downtown Winston-Salem and continues through Saturday evening. For a full event schedule, head to the Winston-Salem Cycling Classic website.

The event will also include live music from groups like Better than Ezra, the Connells, and Below the Line.

Admission is free for spectators to watch the races and to attend other race activities.

Proceeds from the Cycling Classic will go to the Sceptor Pain Foundation and the Forsyth Medical Center Foundation.

The race will affect traffic flow in areas in and around downtown Winston-Salem. You can find course maps and traffic information here.

WFMY News 2's Patrick Wright will be live with organizers Wednesday morning to tell you more about the upcoming Classic. Be sure to tune in to the Good Morning Show from 4:30 to 8 a.m. to learn more.
