WFU Head Coach Danny Manning Talks 2014-15 ACC Schedule
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Atlantic Coast Conference has announced the 18-game conference matchups for each of its 15 men's basketball teams for the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.
Wake Forest will host all three of its in-state conference rivals in 2014-15. The Demon Deacons knocked off all three--Duke, North Carolina and NC State--at home last season.
Wake Forest's annual home-and-home opponents will once again be Duke and NC State. The Deacons will play home-and-home series with Georgia Tech and Virginia in 2014-15 and Notre Dame and Virginia Tech in 2015-16.
Next season, the Deacons will host Miami, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech and the newest ACC member Louisville. Wake Forest will play on the road at Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, Notre Dame and Syracuse in 2014-15. The Deacons will play their first-ever games at Notre Dame and Syracuse next season.
In 2015-16, Wake Forest will host Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, Syracuse and Virginia. The Deacons will play at Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina and Pittsburgh that season.
"It's exciting to look ahead to our league's basketball schedule, as there's no shortage of quality conference games," said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. "This two-year alignment will allow for outstanding opportunities that will highlight our teams and players while providing our fans with continually appealing matchups."
The matchups released today designate the 18-game home and away opponents for each of the next two seasons. Specific game dates, times and networks have not yet been determined.
Next season will mark the third in which each ACC team will play an 18-game conference schedule.
The Deacons, who will be led by first-year head coach Danny Manning, return nine scholarship letterwinners next season, including four starters.
