P.J. Hairston And Andre Dawkins Work Out With Hornets
CHARLOTTE, NC – Former UNC player, P.J. Hairston and former Duke player, Andre Dawkins attended pre-draft work outs with the Hornets.
We've covered the good, the bad, and the ugly when it comes to P.J. Hairston. Roy Williams kicked him off the team at Carolina and we wondered what was next. A few months ago he told WFMY he missed the crowd at Carolina most of all.
Now, he's one step closer to playing in front of a big crowd again. After spending a season with the D-league, P.J. Hairston worked out in front of the Charlotte Hornets' coaching staff.
"People say I can't pass the ball well so I mean I wanted to come out and prove that I could share the ball a lot and be able to bring the ball up the court and do different things that I normally don't do," Hairston told the media on Wednesday.
Hairston already worked out in Chicago, Miami, Boston, and Phoenix. Thursday he's working out with the New York Knicks.
Hairston said his time with the D-League did more than just make him a better player.
"I also feel like I'm also a better person. I've matured a lot more because I was in the D-League, living on my own, and I had to get used to being by myself, and kind of making my own decisions and it really showed how much I matured in the past three, four months."
Another familiar face was working out alongside P.J. Hairston in Charlotte. Former Duke guard, Andre Dawkins was showing his abilities to the Hornets' coaching staff as well. This past season, Dawkins averaged about eight points per game for the Blue Devils.
Dawkins said, "A lot of competition. We had a lot of good guys out there so it was fun to get out and compete against them."
