GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers have a message for all of us and they said it loud and clear on Friday night: the Panthers love the Triad. Carolina's team called on WFMY News 2 to spread the word about the very first Panthers Road Show and the thousands of fans who thronged Center City Park heard the call.
Frank Mickens and Jackie Fernandez, decked out in their own customized jerseys, helped get the crowd up on its feet before a few of the Panthers' top players took the stage.
Fans enjoyed the opportunity to meet Panthers players Luke Kuechly, Thomas Davis, Jonathan Stewart and Mike Tolbert, along with The TopCats cheerleaders. The Purrcussion Drumline performed while Sir Purr, the official Panthers mascot, and The Black & Blue Crew fired up the crowd.
"Everyone knows the best NFL fans are in the Carolinas, and this is an opportunity to reach out to them to say thank you by bringing the game-day atmosphere to The Piedmont Triad area," said Jason Bastian, Panthers Entertainment Coordinator.
The Panthers Road Show featured sponsorship giveaways, inflatables, interactive games, The Play 60 Kids Combine, a DJ, food trucks, a Panthers merchandise trailer and a Panthers ticketing tent for information on tickets and game-day inquiries.
Panthers television affiliate WFMY News 2 and radio affiliate Rock 92 were on-site to join in the action as well. Following a short program, players and TopCats signed autographs for 40 minutes.
WFMY News 2's Frank Mickens and Jackie Fernandez pepped up the crowds at the roadshow. From hearing your best Panthers growl and all your Panthers gear, they enjoyed meeting fans from all over!
