New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Anton Khudobin headlined the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the month of January.
Khudobin filled in admirably for injured starter Cam Ward, earning the First Star by going 10-4-0 with a 2.19 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage while appearing in all 14 of Carolina's games last month. Khudobin improved to 6-0-0 in a 6-1 victory over Toronto on Jan. 9, setting club records for most winning decisions to start a season and a career with Hartford/Carolina.
Maple Leafs forward Phil Kessel was named the Second Star after tying for the league scoring lead with 20 points, including seven goals, in 15 games.
San Jose forward Joe Pavelski was recognized as the Third Star after scoring an NHL-best 12 goals and adding four assists in 15 games.
