Weather Summary:

It was hot and humid Wednesday afternoon with partly cloudy conditions. An isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible through the evening hours, but mainly west. Going into the overnight hours we will see temperatures stay warm with lows only around 72.

Thursday, we will see a cold front approach the Piedmont from the northwest. Ahead of the front we will warm up into the mid 80s and keep dew points in the upper 60s to low 70s. Dew points this high will make it feel very tropical once again. Thursday afternoon there will be a better chance of showers and thunderstorms. A few storms could be on the strong to severe side. The main threats with severe storms on Thursday will be hail and damaging winds. The front will push through the Piedmont Thursday evening and we will begin see drier and relatively cooler air build in. Friday will be mostly dry and somewhat cooler with only a small chance of an isolated shower. High temperatures Friday will be in the middle 80s.

The winds on Saturday will begin to shift out of the southwest which will cause temperatures to start to creep back up to the mid-upper 80s. We will remain dry across the Piedmont on Saturday with scattered clouds. Sunday, temperatures return to 90 with some places reaching low 90s, There will be a 30% chance of an isolated shower and thunderstorm Sunday afternoon. Overall, the weekend looks to remain hot and mostly dry.

Starting off next week, there will be another cold front approach the Piedmont. This cold front will bring the Triad a 30% chance of an scattered showers and thunderstorms. Behind this cold front we will really notice a drop in temperatures and humidity. By Tuesday high temperatures will return to the middle 80s with low 80s expected by Wednesday. Overnight lows into the middle of next week will be around 60°.

The normal high in the Triad is 88, and the normal low is 69.
