CONCORD, N.C. (WCNC)-- Not even NASCAR is bigger than the storms that rolled through the Charlotte area Thursday.
WCNC's Chris Clark was at Charlotte Motor Speedway, right as a Tornado Warning was issued in Mecklenburg and Cabarrus counties on Thursday.
He said rainfall started with a "spit and sprinkle," and within a half hour came the downpour. Water quickly began to pool in the grass.
The track was empty, as practice had to be cancelled. The people who were standing outside ran for cover right as the heavy rain began and the crews quickly locked up all of the garages.
Many fans already set up camp outside of Charlotte Motor Speedway days ago. No injuries from the storm were reported.
