3 Teens Killed In Davie Co. Crash Identified: Highway Patrol

ADVANCE, N.C. -- The West Davidson High community is in mourning after three teenagers died in a car crash Saturday morning.

West Davidson High tweeted the following: "West Davidson's thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of Gavin Ivey, Todd Goetaski, and Justin McGee. Rest in Peace."

The Highway Patrol said 16-year-old Gavin Taelor Ivey was driving a Lexus on Baltimore Road when he tried to pass a Ford pick-up truck in a passing zone at a high rate of speed.

The car was met by a Ford SUV traveling south. Ivey made an abrupt turn back into the right lane and began to skid. Troopers said the car then crossed the center line and crashed with the SUV.

The crash also killed two passengers in Ivey's car - both 16-year-old Todd Richard Goetaski and 16-year-old Justin Tyler McGee.

A 66-year-old man in the SUV was taken to Baptist Hospital.
