Police Expecting Traffic Delays Saturday For Maya Angelou's Memorial

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Winston-Salem police are expecting traffic congestion with Dr. Maya Angelou's private memorial service Saturday.

Officers say they anticipate the delays between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on University Parkway between the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum and Wake Forest University; and on Polo Road between Cherry Street and Reynolda Road.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes if possible.

The memorial is private. The entire Wake Forest University campus will be closed to the public during this time.
