GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Here we go again. Another round of strong to severe storms will strike the Piedmont this afternoon and evening. The WFMY News 2 Weather team is tracking it for you.
The threat for severe weather will be with us during the afternoon & evening hours. Warm and very humid air is in place over the area. A cold front will move in from the west Monday and tap into the unstable air in place, leading to a good chance of showers and storms Monday afternoon and evening.
A few of the storms we see could become strong to severe. The Storm Prediction Center has us under a "Slight" risk of severe weather Monday. That's a 2 out of 5 on our scale.
The main threat from any storms that manage to become severe will be damaging straight line winds. Localized flash flooding and large hail will be possible also. An isolated brief tornado can't be totally ruled out, but that threat appears to be extremely low as of right now.
