'Hurricane Hunters' Make Landfall In North Carolina

Hurricane Awareness Tour

MORRISVILLE, NC -- Hundreds of planes land at Raleigh–Durham International Airport every day.

Wednesday, two special planes flew into RDU.

Hurricane Hunters use the planes fly into hurricanes. It's at RDU this week for the Hurricane Awareness Tour. The public was able to meet local emergency management officials as well as hurricane hunters. The big themes of the day are awareness and preparedness. 

Hurricane season starts on June 1st, but don't wait until then to get ready.
