Strong Thunderstorms Bring Hail, Gusty Winds, And Damage To The Triad

Storms Knocks Down Tree on House

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Strong thunderstorms brought hail, gusty winds, heavy rain, and lighting to the Piedmont Triad. 

Wind gusts were up to 45 mph in Winston-Salem, Greensboro, and Burlington. Here you can see a construction worker in Greensboro holding back road signs from traffic as the wind moved through.

The wind also brought down trees across the Piedmont Triad. A massive tree fell on a home on Fortune Lane in Greensboro.


A tree also fell on multiple cars at Forbis and Dick Funeral Home on West Friendly Avenue in Greensboro. 

In Winston-Salem a tree fell on a car on University Parkway and 14th Streets. Emergency services said there are injuries.

The storm system also brought hail in Yadkin, Surry, Forsyth, and Guilford counties
