Small Earthquake Shakes Davidson County Sunday Morning

Small Earthquake Shakes Denton

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- Did you hear or feel it? The loud rumbling in southern Davidson County? WFMY News 2 Meteorologist Tim Buckley did some checking -- it was in fact, an earthquake!

It was a small 2.6 magnitude quake in Denton that struck around 4:41 a.m. Sunday morning. Some people took to social media to ask about the mysterious shaking and rumbling.

Jeffrey Deaton says he felt his house shake, and his neighbor just three miles down the road did, as well.

Does anyone have any idea what the Thunder like rumble was at 4:42AM?....It lasted at least 6 seconds,maybe...
