Tim Buckley comes to the Triad by way of the beach, having previously worked as the morning meteorologist at WWAY in Wilmington.
His fascination in weather began at a young age, growing up on the snowy shores of Lake Ontario near Syracuse, NY. He earned his degree at Penn State University's well respected Department of Meteorology. Tim loves the challenge of forecasting North Carolina's ever-changing weather, especially here in the Triad. He was recognized by the Associated Press for his wall-to-wall coverage of the state's largest tornado outbreak in April of 2011, and covered Hurricanes Sandy and Irene while in Wilmington.
In 2011, Tim was awarded the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation by the American Meteorological Society.
An avid sports fan, you'll find Tim cheering on his favorite teams throughout the year. In fact, Tim was a member of the Penn State Blue Band in his college years, following the football team across the country.
Count on Tim for all of your weekend forecasts only on WFMY NEWS2. And when you see him out and about, say hi and welcome him to the Triad.
