WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Two Triad university marching bands will come together Friday night in a landmark performance.
Wake Forest's band 'The Spirit of the Old Gold and Black' and Winston-Salem State University's band 'The Red Sea of Sound' will perform together for the first time ever during the halftime show at Wake Forest's Opening Night football game against Utah State at BB&T Field.
The bands' directors have worked together to make the collaboration happen.
“I believe bringing both bands together will provide a great opportunity for fellowship and collaborative music-making. We hope this event will further unite the city of Winston-Salem through the spirit of music," said Wake's band director Dr. Tim Health.
WSSU's band director Dr. Michael Magruder says they're thrilled to be invited to perform, adding that fans are definitely in store for a show.
“Deacon fans better get ready because when the Red Sea takes the field, they can expect to be entertained," he said.
The game starts at 8 p.m.
