Alamance Co. Water Rescue Team Says Goodbye To Brother After Battle With Cancer

Jonathan Long joined the Alamance County Rescue Dive Team in 2003 and became a captain. He leaves behind a wife and son.

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. -- The Alamance County Rescue Squad is mourning the loss of a brother after he passed away from a long battle with cancer.

Former water rescue team member Jonathan Long died last Friday. He was 42 years old. Assistant Chief of Alamance County Rescue Brad Chrismon says his former coworker was fun-loving, would try anything, and was always willing to help others.

Long joined the rescue dive team in 2003 and became a captain. He started out by recreational diving and then joined the volunteer team. He participated in multiple missions and often went out of county to help other rescue teams in their water searches.
