NC Zookeeper Helping Hundreds of Flamingo Chicks Abandoned in South Africa

A North Carolina zookeeper is helping dozens of flamingo chicks in South Africa after their parents abandoned them due to a severe drought.

MIDRAND, South Africa — Stop what you're doing because...baby flamingos. 

A North Carolina Zookeeper is in South Africa helping hundreds of abandoned baby flamingos. 

Jeff Souther is at Lory Park Zoo in Midrand, South Africa, providing around-the-clock care for about 115 flamingo chicks at the location. 

The North Carolina Zoo says this is part of a larger rescue effort involving 1,800 flamingo chicks in Kimberley, South Africa. 

The chicks were abandoned by their parents after a severe drought.
