Officers Deliver Kindness On Valentine's Day to NC Mom Who Had House Broken Into, Tire Slashed

Two Charlotte officers helped a single mom who was the target of criminals in early February.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte mom can say she has two angels without wings, just badges and guns.

Her angels are two Charlotte Mecklenburg Police (CMPD) officers who helped after she was targeted by a person or persons in early February, according to the police department's Facebook post. Police say the mom and 3-year-old had been harassed multiple times recently.

In their post, CMPD says on Feb 5, the mom called police to report that someone slashed her front tire. A few days before that, someone tried to break into her home; pushing the door in and breaking the lower half of the door frame.

Full post:

Officer William Reinke stopped by to check in with the Mother a few weeks later. He noticed the door was still broken and she was driving on the spare. Officer Reinke asked the mom for the damaged tire to see if he could have our Crime Scene Investigators dust it for prints, knowing it’s not a surface area that can be dusted for prints. She happily gave it to him. He took it to Pepboys to have it replaced and fix a slight bend in the rim.

On Valentines Day’s, Officer Reinke asked Officer Planty to help him bring the new tire and put it back on her car. He also bought a stuffed police dog for the 3-year-old daughter.

The officers installed the new tire purchased by Officer Reinke and made some temporary repairs to the front door so she could feel safe again.

They plan on getting some supplies and going back to fully fix the door frame.

Police commended the officers in the post and asked for others to do the same. We want to commend both Officers for this gracious, thoughtful and selfless service to the community. They went out of their way to help someone in need. If you see Officers Reinke and Planty, say hello and thank you for everything they do.
