KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — New jobs could be on the way to the Town of Kernersville if a proposal submitted to the town is approved.

Town leaders said a company wants to invest in the town by building a 1 million square foot distribution center. A developer submitted the plans for the company's proposed facility last week. However, the name of the business that will occupy the building remains a secret.

The site for the proposed facility sits along an extended Old Greensboro Road. Constructions crews are already working to extend the road to connect it to South Bunker Hill Road and open up access to the Triad Business park from that end.

"That park has been an active park For the last 10 years and we are looking forward to another potential project being attracted to that area," said Jeff Hatling, the Community Development Director for the Town of Kernersville.

Plans also show the facility is a multiple mixed-occupancy building that will involve a lot of delivery trucks and computers.

If the plan gets approved, and the company decides to go with the location, the distribution center would be built right next to Fed-Ex in The Triad Business park.
