South Florida mansion with three-story spiral staircase sells for $27M

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A firm linked to a technology venture capital group from Maryland paid $27 million for a beachfront mansion in Manalapan.

David Lumia and Margaret Lumia, the co-founders of Excelsior Medical Corp., sold the 24,760-square-foot home at 1340 S. Ocean Blvd.

The buyer was Villa Del Balbianello LLC, managed by Eric Thompson, the chief operating officer of Owing Mills, Maryland-based Greenspring Associates. The buyer received a $20.25 million mortgage from Santa Clara, California-based Silicon Valley Bank.
