Triad apparel company joins nine others to create sustainable packaging

Kontoor Brands is making the sustainability pledge.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Kontoor Brands (NYSE: KTB), makers of Lee and Wrangler branded apparel, announced today a step toward the new public company’s commitment to sustainability.

Kontoor will join environmental solutions organization Canopy and other apparel companies to reduce the industry’s packaging environmental footprint with Canopy’s new Pack4Good initiative.

The announcement comes on the heels of Kontoor’s recently released Forest Derived Materials policy designed to help protect the world’s forests. Other participating brands are ASOS, H&M, Gina Tricot, HH Global, QLOTHÉ, Reformation, TOMS, VF Corp. and Zilver.

Pack4Good prioritizes use of efficient design and systems to reduce use of paper packaging, increase reusable shipping boxes, maximize recycled content and kick start next-generation alternatives to conventional wood feedstock. Increases in e-commerce and the broad shift away from single-use plastics means demand for cardboard and paper packaging are steadily growing. These trends are increasing the impact on forests of high carbon and species importance.
