A Minnesota-based manufacturing company just tapped Eastern North Carolina for an expansion – amid heavy global competition.

MTS Systems (Nasdaq: MTSC) subsidiary PCB Piezotronics of North Carolina is moving jobs from California and China to North Carolina, an expansion that means 120 jobs over five years in one of the most impoverished counties in the state: Halifax County.

And hiring could start as early as this month, according to documents released by the N.C. Department of Commerce, whose Economic Investments Committee approved an incentives package to the company Monday worth up to $1.6 million.
