GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Bryan School of Business and Economics at UNC-Greensboro has received an award of $100,000 from VF Foundation to support the school’s efforts to educate students on sustainable business practices.

The gift will help create a new “virtual collaboratory” to facilitate guest lectures, class projects, industry and community workshops, faculty research and a sustainability symposium.

Nancy Hodges, head of the UNCG Department of Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies, will lead the collaboratory. Support for research will offer faculty seed money to begin addressing critical sustainability issues and developing innovative approaches to sustainable business and industry practices.

“Sustainability in business involves three core areas — environmental, social and economic,” said McRae Banks, dean of the Bryan School. “For a business to build a lasting future, it needs to ensure that it considers its impact on the environment and on people including employees, customers and community members.”

VF Foundation is an outreach of VF Corp., which is moving its headquarters this month to Denver.
