Dispatchers work around the clock to make sure no call goes unanswered, including those that are not emergencies.

WFMY News 2's Kandace Redd spent part of her day in the 911 center to help remind you of the difference between an emergency call and a non-emergency call.

Guilford Metro 911 provided this list that should be made to 911, but instead to the non emergency line: 336-373-2222

List of actual calls made to 911 that are not considered emergencies:

  1. Cat in a tree and will not come down.
  2. Food order was not correct.
  3. Neighbor’s dog continuously bark.
  4. Neighbor who cut part of homeowners grass. (Homeowner calling)
  5. How to pay a parking ticket.
  6. Do you have the number for….business, resident etc…
  7. Car out of gas in front of the residence. (Caller is the vehicle owner)
  8. Car alarm keeps going off. (Owner of the car calling in)
  9. What are the road conditions. (During inclement weather)
  10. Why is there traffic on the highway, is there a detour?
  11. Kids calling on siblings because they will not give them a turn on a game system.
  12. Kids calling on deactivated cellphones reporting false calls
