Greensboro IRC Develops Mobile Food Carts To Feed Homeless

The resource center is planning a new program to better feed homeless folks in Greensboro.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — More than 900 people go to sleep homeless every night in Greensboro. The Interactive Resource Center works to help many of them get back on their feet.

Thursday, they announced a new way to help the homeless: mobile food carts.

Organizers bought four cargo bikes that will be used to sell and deliver food through the "Food For People" program.

Employees will ride the carts in downtown Greensboro.

"It's meant to fill a gap to get the work experience they need," one organizer said, "It's not a job they have forever."

Local churches helped fund the program. No word yet on when the program will begin.
