GREENSBORO, N.C. — It's cold outside, but competition is heating up at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. USA Water Polo is hosting a meet there this weekend.

40 teams from across the country are in town to compete.

It's all part of an Olympic Development Program. Some of these athletes could compete in the Olympics one day.

The Carolina Water Polo Club organized the meet, and one of their teams is competing.

It's the first time U-S-A water polo has come to Greensboro.

Communications Director Greg Mescall says it's going very well so far.

"You can't find better hosts," Mescall says, "The city of Greensboro, the staff here, making us feel like family, making us feel welcome. It makes us want to come back. We're already talking about how can we get back here for a future event."

Admission to matches is free. They're even holding a free clinic Saturday at 1 PM for folks who want to try out the sport.
