Alamance County Deputies Step Up Patrols To Stop Speeding In Neighborhood

"Speeding is a constant problem on this road. Big. Especially during rush hour," said Duncan Wallace who lives on George Bason Road.

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — Speeding has gotten bad enough in one neighborhood, the Alamance County Sheriff's Office is responding on Facebook, and in person.

They're upping their presence on George Bason Road in Graham.

The road actually connects Highway 54 with another road in the county, so neighbors say many folks use it as a cut through.

Even though the Speed limit says 35, most neighbors say a lot of folks go much faster.

"Speeding is a constant problem on this road. Big. Especially during rush hour," said Duncan Wallace who lives on George Bason Road.

Wallace is one of more than a dozen neighbors we spoke with who said speeding happens almost every day.

In the morning when people are on their way to work, and in the evening neighbors say folks are flying down the road.

That's why the Alamance County Sheriff's Office posted to Facebook announcing they'd put more deputies on the road to help curb the problem.

When we were actually doing the story on Monday afternoon we saw three different deputies out there on the road.

It's something the neighborhood is in favor of.

"I applaud the Sheriff's Office trying to do something about it. They need to," said Howard Malinski, who also lives on George Bason road.

Alamance County Sheriff's Office Facebook post doesn't say how long they'll be stepping up a presence, but it seems to already be having an effect.
