Arrest Made in Connection to Overdose Death of Surry County Woman

Investigators say 45-year-old Brian Green is responsible for the drugs that were found in Jessica Stanley's system. He faces felony drug charges.

PATRICK COUNTY, Va. — Investigators in Virginia say an arrest has been made in the death of a Surry County woman.

45-year-old Brian Green was arrested on several felony drug charges in connection to the overdose death of Jessica Stanley. Investigators said she was found dead in Green's trailer back in August 2018.

Green has not been charged with homicide in Stanley's death, but arrested detective Steve Austin tells WFMY News 2 he could be.

"Green is responsible for the drugs that came back in her [Stanley's] toxicology," Austin said.

Investigators said Stanley's body was found in Green's trailer in Patrick County, Virginia.

Stanley's family is just one of many that stood outside the Surry County Sheriff's Office late last year demanding more action in their families' deaths and disappearances.
