WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police say a 20-year-old man died following a shooting in a Winston-Salem park Monday evening.
It happened around 6 p.m. at Old Town Park off Shattalon Drive.
Detectives said the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but it's not known if the shooting was intentional or accidental at this time.
Several gatherings were happening in the park today. Police estimate there were several hundred people there when the gun went off.
Police say they are not actively looking for a suspect, and there is no threat to the public.
The NC Medical Examiner's Office will be completing an autopsy.
